crochet valentines vase

For this week's project let's crochet a beautiful vase for silk roses. Makes a great Valentines decoration or gift for someone special

You will need some kind of glass jar I used a pint canning jar
1 skein of white 4 ply yarn
Styrofoam you may have to cut it to fit in the jar
Silk flowers

I used a H hook but if your jar is smaller or larger you can use the size you need

White Lace "Porcelain" Vase Pattern

The Base:
• Magic Ring: 6 sc into ring. Join with sl st.
• Round 2: 2 sc in each st around (12).
• Round 3: 1 sc, inc around (18).
• Round 4: 2 sc, inc around (24).
• Continue increasing (3 sc, inc, then 4 sc, inc...) until the circle is the exact size of the bottom of your glass bottle.

• Round 5 (Turning Round): Sc in the Back Loops Only (BLO) of every stitch. This creates a flat bottom and helps the walls stand up straight.

The Lace Walls:
• Round 1: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join.
• Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc in same st. Skip 2 sts, 1 sc in next st, skip 2 sts, 5 dc in next st (Shell made). Repeat from * around. Join to top of ch-3.
• Round 3: Sl st into the center of the first shell. Ch 1, sc in same st. 5 dc in the sc from the previous row, 1 sc in the center dc of the shell from the previous row. Repeat from * around.
• Repeat Round 3 until the sleeve reaches the neck of the bottle.

The Neck & Finish:
• Decrease Round: Sc in each stitch around. If the bottle tapers, sc2tog (decrease) every 5th stitch to tighten the fit.
• Final Edge: Ch 3, sl st in next st repeat all the way around the top rim for a "picot" edge.
• Fasten off and in ends
